It would be nice to get paid millions for just 30 seconds.

Gen X is from 1965-1984, millennials are from 85-2014. The generations are supposed to be 20 years each.

I’m from 1984.... what happened that year that made it go from “Gen X” to “Millennial”?? Does that mean I’m responsible for whatever millennials blame the past generation for??

I have a quick litmus test to determine of someone is or isn’t one of those dirty millenials that are always on my lawn. I simply ask them if they remember the first time they used the Internet.

20 years past by,

“The Harvard Center uses 1965 to 1984 to define Gen X so that Boomers, Xers, and Millennials ”cover equal 20-year age spans”. [15] Masnick”

The definition used in the article is retarded because they just assign an arbitry time span. Harvard Center at least used some lodgic in their definition.

Do they have similar articles for MLB, MLS, and the NHL?

I mean, I’m the odd sheep in my family, since as is plainly obvious, I watch the NHL over football. Everyone else loves football, but I find it really freaking boring.

Great highlight reels, but otherwise really boring. At least you can have good laughs when Joseph Blandisi trips over his own skates at the blue line.

As an older millennial (Born late 83) I played football from the age of 12-18 and rejected the opportunity to play 1AA. While I loved playing the game in the moment, I wouldn’t do it again. I have some permanent damage to my knee and there’s really no way for me to know if I have lasting injuries from head trauma.

I wouldn’t let my children play it either and knowing what he knows now, my father wouldn’t have let me play. It’s just not worth the sacrifice.

My 14.4k modem was the shit back in the day. When I got a 56k though, blew my mind.

Not that I’m aware of. Could be that NHL/NBA don’t count on a millinnial fan base as much.

At least in the NHL’s case, they have an entire country for which that is the national sport (Canada).

I mean, yes the CFL exists, but it has nowhere near the popularity of the NFL. The two don’t even have a common rulebook (sort of like the NHL and the IIHF, although those are much closer, and NHL players do play with IIHF rules at the Olympics, etc.)

If the NFL ceased to exist, my life would be no different. Football is really just a three hour commercial break with a few minutes of sports sprinkled in.

My favourite way of watching football is either the highlights or on PVR.

The first computer my family had that could access the Web was a Packard Bell with Windows 3.11 and a 9600 baud modem. That modem didn’t last long. I think my dad bought a new modem each month until we worked our way to 56.6k. That was enough speed back then that you could actually do something useful. But man, when my dad coughed up the money for a cable modem...

I was born in ’89, and if a sport doesn’t involve a cage, a ramp, or internal combustion I ain’t watching it.

Everybody seems to have a different definition. Some cut Millenials off in the early ‘00s in favor of “Generation Y”. Depends on if you want to define generations based on time,on shared cultural and historical experiences, or a combination of both. It isn’t scientific, and it gets even more confusing when you add in things like Echo Boomers and realize that people born at the tail end of one generation are going to have more in common with the one following. Eg, Barack Obama is technically a Baby Boomer but probably identifies more as Gen X.

That’s why The Harvard Center makes more sense. It’s a fixed time line so doesn’t allow for ambiguity. Basing it on shared cultural or historic events is silly because it can’t be scaled globally. A person born in 1980 in China isn’t going to have alot - cultural or historically wise - incomon with a personal born in the US in 1980.

I hope I don’t incur wrath, so I’ll start with: I love a good superbowl party, and football is kind of interesting. That being said, you have to book off a whole day to watch the stuff it seems. Even the regular games. And except for the highlight reel, it’s kind of slow. I’d imagine people just don’t want the time commitment.

Is that the one with the net hanging in the air or the little hole in the ground?

Seriously though, I love the super bowl. It ensures that all of my favorite places are devoid of crowds.

That makes me feel a little better. I’ve never been into sports. I’ve always been really athletic, but raced bmx instead of playing on any kind of team growing up. When someone at work asked me who I was rooting for and I told him I wouldn’t even be watching it he looked at me like a leper. Lol.
